2NE1
The group’s name stands for 21st Century New Evolution; it’s often stylised as 2NE1, and pronounced as to-anyone or twenty-one. The four members of the girl group are CL, Bom, Dara and Minzy. They were also known as the female version of Big Bang.
2ne1 was introduced in March 2009 with Lollipop, jointly released with boy band Big Bang. They made their official debut with a self-titled EP in May which include hit songs Fire and I Don’t Care. The mini-album was a huge success; and they got themselves their very own reality show 2ne1 TV which began airing in July.
The girls also became popular commercial models, featuring for Bean Pole, Etude House, FILA sportswear and Anycall mobile etc. (no longer contracted to some).
2ne1 released their first full length album To Anyone in September 2010, which again did very well and further stamping their mark as one of South Korea’s top female pop groups. The girls are also set to release their first English album soon.
